PlayStation Direct in the US has stopped listing PlayStation VR2. The page does not say sold out. It does not say back ordered. It is gone. The old product link returns a 404, and the Internet Archive caught that page still live on October 8 and returning the 404 by October 12. Road to VR reported the removal on November 3, placing the start of Sony's regional delistings around mid October.
Sony's US Store No Longer Lists the PS VR2 Headset, and Its Black Friday Sale Still Includes PS VR2 Games

The US accessories section still carries a PS VR2 heading. Push Square checked it the same day and found a charging station, the PC adapter and a third party carrying case underneath it. The headset itself is not there. Road to VR found Japan's store in the same state, while the UK and EU stores still sell it and Sony's pages in Canada, Australia and New Zealand point buyers to third party retailers instead.
Under four weeks from unavailable to absent
VR.org checked the same channel on September 18. PlayStation Direct listed the headset at $399.00 with the words Currently Unavailable underneath. Best Buy's only new units came from Marketplace sellers at $855.20 and $894.00. Walmart's first page of results was entirely pre-owned. Sony said nothing then either.
The list price has not moved since. Sony cut the recommended price to $399.99 in March 2025, down from $549.99 at the February 2023 launch. The resale number has moved. Road to VR puts Best Buy's third party price at roughly $750 now. In September the cheapest new unit those Marketplace sellers offered there was an $855.20 bundle, so the markup has eased while official supply has not returned. Different sellers, different boxes. The direction is still worth noting, because scarcity pricing normally runs the other way.
Valve wrote it down. Sony has not.
Valve retired the Index three weeks ago and retitled the store page Valve Index Sunset, leaving the last units at $399.20. Anyone landing on that page knows what they are looking at and what it costs. Sony has published no statement about discontinuation, production or a restock, in any region.
The most recent production figure in circulation is more than two years old. It came from a Bloomberg report in March 2024, not from Sony. People familiar with Sony's plans said it had paused PS VR2 production until it cleared a backlog of unsold units, after building well over 2 million of them. No report since has described a restart. An empty US channel is what the end of that backlog would look like. That is an inference, and it should be read as one.

The software side is running normally
PlayStation's Black Friday promotion opens on November 4 at 00:00 PST and runs through November 30, with discounts reaching 75 percent. Sony's own announcement, posted November 3, describes the sale as covering thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions and DLC. Some offers refresh on November 16 and a tranche expires on November 20.
New releases are still arriving. Zero Caliber 2 Remastered reaches PS VR2 on November 5 running at native 90fps with headset haptics and adaptive trigger support. Triangle Factory's 32 player shooter Forefront lands the same day, according to UploadVR, with cross play and improved visuals. Both titles need a headset Sony will not sell an American buyer on Wednesday morning.
What this means for a buyer
Do not pay $750 for a headset with a $399.99 list price, weeks out from a Black Friday where Sony has announced no hardware deals at all. Last year it took $100 off PS VR2 for the same sale. A certified refurbished unit from a retailer that honors a return is the reasonable fallback. Waiting is the better one. A UK or EU buyer is unaffected and can still order at list from Sony.
Existing owners lose nothing here. The Store is open, the November releases are real, and the Black Friday discounts apply to them. The only people this strands are the ones who were going to buy their first PS5 headset this holiday, and they now have no official US seller to buy it from.
