Roboquest VR arrives on Meta Quest on May 21, completing the game's platform rollout with same-day two-player co-op support across Quest, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR2. The launch marks a significant milestone for Flat2VR Studios, the team that adapted the original flatscreen roguelite into a ground-up VR experience.

What Roboquest VR Gets Right

The original Roboquest earned a loyal following on PC for its speed. Runs are short, enemies hit hard, and the weapon variety keeps every attempt feeling fresh. Flat2VR Studios rebuilt the entire control scheme for VR rather than simply mapping flatscreen inputs to motion controllers. Weapons have physical reloading, movement is tuned for roomscale play, and the pacing translates surprisingly well to a headset where you are physically turning and ducking.

For those unfamiliar with the structure, Roboquest is a roguelite FPS at its core. Each run takes you through procedurally generated environments filled with robotic enemies. You collect weapons, upgrade your loadout between stages, and push as far as your skills allow before starting over. The loop is fast enough that a failed run does not sting, and a good run can carry real momentum.

Cross-Platform Co-Op Changes the Equation

The May 21 update adds two-player co-op across all three platforms simultaneously. That means a Quest player can team up with someone on SteamVR or PSVR2 without any friction. Cross-platform co-op in VR is still uncommon enough that its inclusion here is a genuine selling point. Roguelites tend to be better with a partner, and Roboquest's pace means co-op runs should be intense without dragging on.

The Quest version is targeting Quest 3 and Quest 3S hardware. Given the game's stylized art direction and relatively contained environments, the visual downgrade from PC should be manageable. Flat2VR Studios has a track record of solid Quest ports, and the March 2026 VR Games Showcase trailer suggested the Quest build was already in good shape months before launch.

Where Roboquest Fits in a Crowded Month

May 2026 is stacked for VR releases. Compass lands on May 28, H3VR2 is on the horizon, and Spymaster just dropped into Early Access. Roboquest VR occupies a slightly different space than all of those. It is a pure arcade roguelite, built for quick sessions and replayability rather than narrative or exploration. If you have been looking for something to fill the gap between longer VR experiences, this is exactly that kind of game.

At $19.99 on the Meta Quest Store, Roboquest VR is positioned competitively. The Steam and PSVR2 versions have been available since late 2025, and player reception has been positive across both platforms. The Quest launch with cross-platform co-op makes this the definitive version for anyone who wants the flexibility to play standalone or tethered.

Roboquest VR launches on Meta Quest on May 21. You can wishlist it now on the Quest Store.
