Auganix appended an editor's note to a year-old story on August 12. The note sits on top of an article the trade publication ran on August 13, 2025, under the headline "DPVR Releases P1 Max Enterprise VR Headset with Performance, Cooling, and Expansion Upgrades," which closed by stating that the headset was "now available for global enterprise customers." According to the note, DPVR has since told Auganix that the P1 Max was not available for purchase in August 2025, and that the announcement was a pre-announcement rather than a commercial launch.
DPVR's $549 P1 Max Finally Has a Ship Window, a Year After Being Announced as Already Available

The occasion for that correction is a second announcement, published the same day, in which DPVR finally attached numbers to the product. The company says the P1 Max is priced at USD $549 for the standard version and $799 for an eye-tracking version. It describes the headset as being in its final production phase, and says it will begin accepting sample and test orders from enterprise customers in November for compatibility testing and pilot projects, with general shipping to follow. Orders run through DPVR's own sales team or its distributors.
So the sequence, laid end to end, is that a headset described as available in August 2025 will start reaching enterprise evaluation units in November 2026, roughly fifteen months later.
What the spec sheet says
The hardware itself is unremarkable in the specific way enterprise hardware is supposed to be. DPVR lists a 3664 by 1920 binocular display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform with 8K video decoding, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 4000mAh battery, and Wi-Fi 6. The headline engineering change over the P1 Pro 4K it is based on is thermal: an active dual-vent cooling design with intake and exhaust on both the top and bottom of the device, which DPVR claims improves cooling efficiency by up to 50 percent over the previous generation. That number is the company's own and has not been independently measured.
Two design decisions are aimed squarely at deployments where a headset lives on a rack rather than in a drawer. The first is a top-mounted DC power input, offered with either a standard cable or a reinforced steel-sleeved one, which lets a unit run continuously on external power in an arcade, an exhibition stand, or a training bay. The second is a reserved Type-C expansion port on the mainboard. DPVR says an eye-tracking module will arrive as a future accessory through that port.

That future tense deserves attention, because the $799 figure is described as the price of an eye-tracking version of a headset whose eye-tracking module DPVR characterises as forthcoming. The company's own store page adds a second wrinkle. As of publication it lists the P1 Max under a "Pre-sale" label at $549.00 to $749.00, with three configurations in the version dropdown: P1 Max, P1 Max Direct Power, and P1 Max Direct Power with Iron tube. No eye-tracking SKU appears there, and $749 is not $799. It is entirely possible that the storefront simply lags the announcement, which happens constantly with hardware pages. A buyer building a quote should still confirm the number with a salesperson rather than a web page.
One more detail is worth surfacing because DPVR does not put it in the specification table. On the company's own site, the P1 Max is filed under Enterprise, Standalone 3DOF. Three degrees of freedom means rotational tracking only, so the headset follows where a user looks but not where they walk. For 360-degree video, seated procedural walkthroughs, classroom modules, and a large share of the safety-induction content that dominates corporate VR, that is sufficient and arguably preferable, since it removes an entire category of guardian and room-scale support calls. For anything involving positional movement or hand presence it is disqualifying. The spec table's silence on the point is the kind of omission that costs somebody a procurement cycle.
Why announcement discipline is now a buyer's problem
VR.org has spent much of this year documenting the withdrawal of the largest technology companies from enterprise XR hardware. Microsoft ended HoloLens production and shut down Mesh. Meta discontinued Horizon Workrooms and stopped selling commercial Quest SKUs. Apple's Vision Pro team was broken up and reassigned. That story, covered here in May, ended on a reasonably optimistic note: the specialist vendors absorbing those contracts were purpose-built for the work, with published support roadmaps and device-management stacks that do not depend on a consumer product line succeeding.
DPVR belongs to that category. It integrates with ManageXR and ArborXR alongside its own StarLink management tooling, it sells OEM customisation covering firmware, boot animation, industrial design, branding, and user interface, and it has been shipping into education and location-based entertainment for years. None of that is diminished by a pre-announcement that got reported as a launch.
But the migration to specialists changes what a procurement team has to verify. When Meta or Microsoft published availability, the claim was backed by a retail channel a buyer could check in an afternoon. When a mid-size manufacturer announces through a trade publication that reprints supplied claims as supplied, the verification burden moves onto the buyer, and the failure mode is not a bad headset. It is a training programme scoped around a device that will not arrive for another year.
Auganix deserves some credit here, incidentally. Going back to correct a story after twelve months, when nobody was likely to notice, is more editorial hygiene than the category usually gets. The Maersk Training carve-out and Pico's leadership change both surfaced through the same trade channel this summer, and enterprise XR runs on a small number of outlets doing that work.
For anyone with a 2027 deployment on a roadmap, the practical takeaway is narrow. November brings sample units for pilot testing, not fleet delivery, and DPVR has not published a general shipping date. Treat $549 as a planning figure rather than a quoted one, confirm the tracking model in writing before content is commissioned, and put the eye-tracking module's availability in the contract rather than the proposal.
