Phasmophobia is $13.99. The Forest is $3.99. Metro Awakening, which lists at $39.99, is $11.99. All three return to full price at 10am Pacific on Monday, November 2, the end date Steam's store pages show for Steam Scream V.

On October 31, Steam's search returned 156 discounted titles carrying both the Horror tag and a VR flag. Of those, 105 are VR-only. The other 51 are listed as VR supported. Both labels are loose. Blasphemous, a 2D platformer, sits in the second group.

VR.org read the store record for all 156 and cut the list to twelve. The test: at least 150 Steam user reviews, a real VR mode, and actual horror. Prices below were read from Steam on October 31. Steam's percentages come from all user reviews, and Steam does not split them by mode, so the scores for Phasmophobia and The Forest cover flat-screen players too.

Twelve that pass, by price

Under $5

  • Forewarned, $3.89, was $12.99. Co-op survival horror for up to four in Egyptian ruins. 92 percent positive across 3,557 reviews.
  • The Forest, $3.99, was $19.99. A plane crash, then cannibal mutants. 95 percent across 178,377.

$5 to $10

$10 and up

All twelve total $121.53, down from $277.88. That is 44 cents on the dollar, and under 12 percent of a $1,059 Steam Frame.

The Frame list is much shorter

Great on Frame is Valve's store label for Steam Frame Verified games, meaning it tested them running on the headset itself, with no PC attached. Our tracker covers what the certification requires, including a 72 fps target. Filter Steam's search by that badge and 156 falls to four.

Three are on the list above: The Room VR, Deadly Delivery and Little Nightmares VR. The fourth is Waltz of the Wizard, a $13.99 spell-casting sandbox whose discount ends an hour earlier, at 9am Pacific. Somebody tagged it horror. On Steam, somebody tags everything.

Valve's second tier, Playable, returns zero. Phasmophobia does have a rating, and it is still Unsupported, from the July 22 test Evan Marcus covered on October 1. The other eight have no record at all, which means no verdict rather than a failed one.

A gaming PC changes the math. Any of these can stream from a PC to a Frame. A Quest needs Meta's Steam Link app and the same PC. Native Quest versions are separate purchases on Meta's store, and this sale does not touch them.

What the sale skips

VR.org's VR horror guide has 14 games. Six are in this sale, including MADiSON VR at $20.99, down from $34.99. Half-Life: Alyx stays at $59.99. Alien: Rogue Incursion VR, Into the Radius 2 and Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic all stay at $39.99.

One limit on all of this. Steam publishes no full price history, so VR.org is not calling any of these an all-time low. The numbers are what Steam showed on October 31.

A buyer with a PC VR rig can take the full twelve for $121.53, or start with The Forest and Forewarned for under $8. A Frame owner with no PC has three real horror games for $28.22 combined. That is the shortest list here, and the only one Valve has tested.
